Attendance was about 80 on this warm night with the sun just below the clouds on the horizon when
the game started. This game had been moved within the last week from Vaughan Grove to the Ontario
Soccer Centre and the time moved from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. 'Moving' isn't such a bad word as physically
the field is about 200 yards away. The main outdoor OSC field (the only one with stands) has
artificial turf and leftover TFC II banners around the fences. I asked Woodbridge head coach
Peter Pinizzotto about the change in venue. He said the 'real grass' field at Vaughan Grove
is in bad shape. The time change was because of double booking. A 9:00pm start at Vaughan Grove
couldn't happen at their real field or two field turf fields as I could hear voices from the fields
over there (200 yards away remember) given to rental groups.

Pinizzotto again looks like a genius because Tyrell Raine was subbed on just three minutes earlier.
He actually had to take that shot because there were no Strikers running to the left post nor even
into the box at all to receive a pass for a tap-in. There was too much of that in this game
by both teams.

Kelvin Friseiro earned the shutout for Woodbridge with a few routine saves. He was aided by defenders
Matthew Strangis, Francesco Sinopoli, captain Kyle Watson, and Andres Caicedo. They had to bring
in Joshua Kiselyov at 37 minutes when Watson was injured and Sinopoli took over as captain.

Best non-scoring chances (well there weren't many) was at 66 minutes when WS Tyrell Raine fed a through
ball pass up the right for WS Ignazio Muccilli who ran in and took a 10 yard shot from the far right
that the sliding goalie deflected wide right of the post.

Referee Hassane Rifai gave out two Yellow cards, both to Woodbridge and both in the first half.
He had to pull himself from the game at 81 minutes when he went down lame and needed a trainer.
Fourth official Filip Dujic who I'd seen referee the Aurora vs Windsor game yesterday afternoon came
in to finish. I've seen him ref and fourth York 9 FC games in the CPL. There was some polite applause
when the switch was made. There was even the flashing of numbers changing '0' for '0' on an old electronic
sign substitute board (most officiating crews use the manual neon flip boards) held up by, it looked like,
Martin Bazyl who takes photos for L1O among others. Quick thinking...it made me and the crabbiest Strikers
supporter (every contact was a foul for him) laugh.

Nice to have a reliable scoreboard tonight after a troubling weekend. Still Woodbridge programmed the
clock to count down rather than up just like their home ground which I think doesn't have the choice.

The win was much needed by Woodbridge as it improves their record to 4 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie for 13 points.
That's all alone in ninth spot. Top eight make the playoffs in the sixteen team league.

Darby has their record fall to 4 wins, 4 losses, 2 ties for 14 points. They are in a tie for seventh with
an identical record as North Mississauga who I saw lose last night. All but two teams have only five games
left with the regular season wrapping up on August 18th. This may be an advantage to some teams that
have players jumping back to their NCAA or Canadian university/college teams as at least this year they
will be able to complete the regular season. It's a more compact season because of one less team and there
is no L1O Cup competition so a few weekends were freed up.
