Attendance eventually climbed to about 70 on this mild but wet night. The game started
in a light rain but it stopped sometime near the end of the first half. I was cowering
underneath the fourth officials canopy to protect my notebook (not a computer notebook kids,
I mean pen and paper!). Other fans were in the end zone under a canopy to the dressing room
and exit or in the stands if they brought their own umbrellas.

Pro Stars were probably glad to get this game played because last Saturday night's game
against North Mississauga SC was postponed because of the thunderstorm that gripped the area.
It wouldn't have surprised me that officials from City of Brampton (nickname 'The Flower
City') would have ordered the cancellation so as not to have the field chewed up in the wet.

Christian Campanico earned the shutout for Pro Stars. Praveen Ahilan earned the shutout
for Alliance. For Ahilan that is his fifth shutout in a row and he hasn't allowed a goal
so far this season! Alliance head coach Ilya Orlov says he was the goalie for
Ryerson University Rams for the previous five years.

Two league officials were talking about the game and said both teams were wearing the wrong
kind of shoes for tonight's wet field. Yes. There was a lot of slipping and sliding on the
field and sure shot chances were sent off target high or wide. Lots of sliding tackles mostly
turned in to just freekicks. Referee Sean Simpson gave out only three Yellow cards
(two to Pro Stars).

Best non-scoring chances were at 12 minutes when AU Nikola Stakic blasted a 10 yard shot that
deflected off a defender and off the top of the bar. 16 minutes had PS George Owusu recover
a clearance and take a 35 yard shot up the middle that the goalie had to palm over the bar.
26 minutes had PS Uday Arora run down the left and elude three players and pass
to PS Alexander Zwierzynski whose shot from 15 yards was stopped by the sprawling golie.
PS Mikel Garrick then shot the 15 yard rebound over the bar. 29 minutes had AU Nicholas Osorio
rush down the right and crossed over a sliding defender to AU Milan Beader who blasted
a 20 yarder down the middle that the sprawling goalie blocked. Nothing really that close
in the second half as the footing was worse or the defenders kept all the shots were taken
from further away.

Alliance remain undefeated with a 4 win, 0 loss, 1 tie record for 13 points. They take over
first place with Oakville Blue Devils who will play Sunday holding a 4-0-0 record.
[Late news...OBD was beaten by Vaughan Azzurri who climbed into a tie with OBD with 4-1-0 records.
Soooo...Alliance are in first place at the end of Week 5].

This is the second year that Alliance has been in the league. Last year they finished middle
of the pack but I was able to ask head coach Ilya Orlov about their improvement in an interview.

Pro Stars FC record improves to 2 wins, 0 losses, and 2 ties for 8 points. That is good
for a tie with North Mississauga for sixth place who also hold the same record.

They are also a much improved team always finishing near the bottom since they entered
the league in 2015.
