FC London Blank OSU Force, Masters Hold Off Late Durham Surge

FC London were able to travel to Ottawa and take all three points back with them as they defeated 
OSU Force 3-0.

Masters' FA took control of their match against Durham United FA right away but had to deal with 
a late surge of momentum as they won 3-2.

FC London put three goals past hosts OSU Force to grab their second win of the 2019 season.

Tomas Alvarez (18’) opened the scoring by putting a rebound let off by the keeper into 
the back of the net.

Being down a goal early on, OSU began to put the pressure on FCL getting more shots on goal 
and opportunities to score. 

Before the ref could signal halftime, London doubled their lead thanks to Connor Wilson (45’), 
whose shot on goal found the bottom left corner. 

As the second half began OSU came out strong with two shots hitting the post. 

With fresh legs on the field, Ottawa continued to look for a goal but just couldn’t find 
the back of the net. 

The final 20 minutes of play witnessed OSU looking for reinforcements to grab a late goal, 
while London was looking for fresh legs to keep their clean sheet.

London’s Chat Gopaul (83’) scored the third goal and final goal for his side before getting 
subbed off. 

Right after the goal, a thunderstorm began and the game was delayed and eventually called 
making the final score 3-0 for FC London.

OSU Force will play next on the road against Sigma FC on Saturday, June 1 at 4 p.m.

FC London will play next when they host Unionville-Milliken SC on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m.

Masters FA scored three first-half goals to beat Durham United 3-2 in a thrilling 
League1 Ontario game on Saturday night. 

Akeem Priestly (5'), Shaquille Agard (15') and Kemar Rowe (37') were on the scoresheet 
for the hosts, while Durham clawed back twice with Esau Powell (26') and Maleik De Freitas(89'), 
yet it was not enough for a point. 

Priestly (5') received a cross from the left wing, before controlling it and comfortably 
striking his attempt on the net into the low corner.

Masters doubled their lead Agard (15') collected a long ball in the opposition box, 
and then dribbled it past the goalkeeper to slide it into the empty net. 

While it looked like the game was heading into a rout, Durham fought back and did that 
in style.
 
In the 25th minute, Durham's Esau Powell controlled a high ball with his chest, 
and shot with his left before dropping it.

However, Masters responded again, in a similarly extraordinary goal. Rowe (37') sent 
a long ball up front from his own half, but with the help of the wind, the ball went 
over Durham keeper Kevon Grant.

The second half saw both sides playing a heavy pressing game, where lots of tackles 
were made and neither side could hold onto possession for long.
 
The visiting Durham side forced a late stretch in the game and cut the deficit 
to one again when De Freitas (89') connected a corner kick and put a well-placed 
shot into the net. 
 
Durham forced another goal in the dying seconds but Masters withstood pressure 
and took home all three points. 
 
Masters' FA's next game will be a road match against Woodbridge Strikers 
on Sunday, June 2 at 5 p.m.
 
Durham United next will host Darby FC on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m.
