Day One of #L1OKickoff2019 is in the books and it was a promising start indeed!

Wins for Darby FC men's side and Hamilton United Elite women's side were led by braces from Bayley Winkel
and Angela Cutaia, while North Miss were held to a 1-1 draw in their home opener versus Unionville.

North Mississauga and Unionville Miliken S.C. battled to a 1-1 draw in the opening match of the
2019 League1 Ontario season.

Tim Flynn was taken down in the penalty area, winning his team a penalty.

Flynn (15') stepped up to the spot and made no mistake, putting the away side up 1-0.

North Mississauga equalized when a former League1 Ontario All-Star, Lee-Victor Massunda (33’),
was found in the penalty area and after some beautiful footwork, slotted it home past veteran
Unionville keeper Eugene Alves.

North Mississauga will next travel to Ottawa South United on May 11th (5:00 p.m.) at Quinns Point,
Ottawa.

Unionville Miliken S.C. will next play Vaughan Azzurri on May 11th (8:00 p.m.) at Mt. Joy Field,
Markham.

An Angela Cutaia (59’, 62’) brace in the second-half led the hosts Hamilton United Elite to a 2-0
victory over visiting team, Unionville Milliken.

Hamilton began to dictate tempo and gain possession which led to a breakthrough when Jorden Campbell's
cross off a corner found Cutaia at the back post unmarked.

Not long after, Hamilton doubled the lead again through Cutaia, when Maila Cariboni slotted her
through on goal at the back post.

Hamilton United Elite’s next game sees them host FC Oshawa at Ron Joyce Stadium Friday, May 10 at 8 p.m.

Unionville Milliken hosts FC London at L’Amoreaux on Saturday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Bayley Winkel (2', 89') scored a pair of goals for Darby FC to kickoff the season over FC London 3-0
on Friday night at the Whitby Soccer Centre Dome.

Winkel scored the opening goal two minutes into the match after FC London's goalkeeper Anthony Sokalski
was unable to contain the rebound. The striker put the game away after giving Darby a commanding 3-0
lead one minute before regular time.

Christian Moncrieffe (74') entered the game to start the second half and scored the home side's second
after the London keeper was unable to hold the ball.

Darby FC will next play on May 10 (8:00 p.m.) against the Oakville Blue Devils at the Whitby Soccer
Centre Dome.

FC London will next play on May 12 (3:30 p.m.) as they travel to take on Durham United FA
at Pickering Soccer Centre.
