October 5, 2018 USL Toronto FC II--Toronto FC II vs Louisville City FC game review George Davis IV milestone (from louisvillecityfc.com)
George Davis IV reaches USL modern era record 200 appearances By LouCity, 10/05/18, 11:15PM EDT On reaching 200 appearances in the USL modern era: “Well, it’s an honor to be able to play for this long. I didn’t think that I would be able to play professionally and then eight years later to be playing 200 games, that’s something I can be proud of. Perseverance is a word that comes to mind when I think about my career and I’m just happy that I was able to stick with it and to have the opportunity to keep playing.” On reaching that milestone with Louisville City FC: “It means a lot. Louisville City has been a growing club since I’ve been here and has been a top club, we’ve done nothing but win games and strive to be the best in the league and it’s an honor to wear this shirt. I look forward to what’s ahead and I’m happy I can be a part of this organization.” On if he thought 50 USL goals and 200 USL appearances would ever be a possibility: “Honestly, not really, man. Obviously, you put your head down and I’ve always been a guy that kind of just puts my head down and drives on and not take moments for granted but take them as they are. When you have a chance to hit these accomplishments and sit back and take a look from the outside to see what you’ve accomplished and what you’ve done, it’s a proud moment. But, at the same time, there’s a lot to play for this year and I don’t want to rest on my laurels. I want to continue to try to achieve more and win more trophies and that’s the most important thing for me.” On coming home to end the regular season in Louisville: “Louisville is a good place. Toronto has been a handful for us in the last couple of years so it’s nice to come here in such a crucial time of the year and get a result. It’s three points we really needed to try and secure the second slot, so I’m happy to do that. I’m really looking forward to getting back home and playing at Slugger [Field] and finishing the season strong. I think we have a good group and we have the same mentality and the same hunger last year when we won the cup, so that’s our goal and our mission: to do that again.”
