August 28, 2018 USL Toronto FC II--Louisville City FC vs Toronto FC II game review (from torontofc.ca)
Recap: Toronto FC II at Louisville City FC August 28, 2018 9:57PM EDT Adam Krueger Shocker, Upset, Statement Game, whatever you want to call it Toronto FC II was simply clinical in their 4-1 victory over the reigning USL champions Louisville City FC at Slugger Field in Louisville. The champs came out as expected applying pressure to the Reds early and controlling possession. Tsubasa Endoh opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark as he calmly finished off a ball from Malik Johnson. The hosts hit back shortly after as Ilija Ilic tidily finished off a chance in the box. Caleb Patterson-Sewell was strong in between the sticks making a pair of stops right before the break to keep the score level. The veteran keeper was called into action once again early in the second half as he dove to his left to deny a half chance. The Reds regained the lead as Malik Johnson ran the ball up from just outside his own 18, he then played Shaan Hundal who cheekily backheeled the ball to Endoh who slotted home his brace. Johnson got in on the scoring as the midfielder finished off a run by Mathew Srbely who had beaten his defender to get work into some space in the box. Dante Campbell put the game on ice in injury time as the Reds broke out three on one with Gideon Waja playing Endoh, who unselfishly played the ball over to a wide-open Campbell. The win snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak for Louisville and was TFC II’s first road victory of the season. The Young Reds are right back into it on Friday as they host Atlanta United 2 at Lamport Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM.
