The Charleston Battery bagged an important victory as O’Brian Woodbine had a goal and assist in a 4-0 win against Toronto FC II to break a six-game winless streak for the visitors at BMO Field. After scoring only one goal in their past three games the Battery attack pushed the side into sixth place in the Eastern Conference and just three points back of the second-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. 2. The Battery’s victory arrived at a key moment of the season for the perennial playoff contender, which visits regional rival North Carolina FC next week before games against Indy Eleven (July 11), Louisville City FC (July 14) and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (July 21), all of which currently sit in the top five in the Eastern Conference. Neither side recorded a shot on goal in the first half, but a defensive error opened up a chance that Charleston’s Ataulla Guerra seized upon to open the scoring in the 59th minute, and six minutes later Kotaro Higashi put home a second.
