Atlanta has stumbled out of the blocks to a 1-4-3 record. The lone victory for the side came in their inaugural match, a 3-1 victory over NYRB II. Since that game, ATL UTD 2 in winless in seven matches and has been outscored 14-6 including four straight loses. Similar to TFC II, ATL UTD 2 has employed a younger side in the USL built around a homegrown core. Despite the absences, Atlanta’s lineup will still feature some impressive talent. Irishman Jon Gallagher leads the team in scoring with four goals so far this season. The 22-year-old was selected 14th overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft out of Notre Dame but has yet to make an appearance in MLS this season. Another first-team homegrown player playing significant minutes with ATL 2 is Lagos Kunga. Kunga has played in all eight games for Atlanta 2 recording one goal and one assist. Jack Metcalf has also played in every game this season; the defender/midfielder joined ATL UTD 2 from Welsh club Bangor City. The final player to watch is first team homegrown George Bello.
