Match Recap: Toronto FC II at Pittsburgh Riverhounds April 7, 2018 5:39PM EDT Adam Krueger Toronto FC II fell to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday afternoon. The match was moved to Pittsburgh to accommodate the BMO Field pitch conditions. The Reds and the host Riverhounds played to a scoreless first half with little chances on either side. The hosts struck first shortly into the second half as the ball took a favourable bounce for Neco Brett who hammered home a strike past Angelo Cavalluzzo. Brett added another just seven minutes later as he squeaked one by Cavallazzo to the keepers’ short side. The Jamaican forward earned his hat-trick in the 83rd as her barreled onto a rebound that slid across the goalmouth after striking the post. Pittsburgh added another before the final whistle courtesy of a Christiano Francois blast. The match saw the first starts of the season for Lars Eckenrode, Gideon Waja, and Daniel Da Silva. First teamer Ayo Akinola came on as a second-half substitute making his first appearance for TFC II since 2016. Academy product Jordan Faria made his USL debut in the match playing the final 15 minutes. Toronto FC II return to action on Wednesday, April 18 as they play host to North Carolina FC. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM at BMO Field.
