Attendance was about 40 on this cold night. Fans were in short sleeves and shorts for afternoon games in Aurora but
I'd seen the forecast in the morning and threw a parka in my car and was glad I packed it and had it on by the start
of this game. This weekend completes the L1O regular season.

This was a low scoring game that had a lot of tackles for injuries on both teams and lots of missed opportunities for
each team too. Referee Braeden Kraempert gave out three Yellows to each team for rough challenges except for the one
at 86 minutes to NMP 72 minute substitute goalie Chester Ashby who took too long to take a goal kick—probably he had
some mix up as his team was behind by that point.

Adrian Ibanez earned the shutout for UM with a few crucial saves but the NMP players inaccurate shooting made the win
that much easier.

Best scoring chances were at 5 minutes when UM Dimitrov received a long pass at 30 yards on the right and he ran forward
and his 15 yard shot was into the webbing of the net on the near post. 12 minutes had NMP Sebastian Lopez steal a ball
off a defender and take a 15 yard shot that the goalie got a hand to. 39 minutes had NMP Jaroslaw Radzinski hesitate
to clear a ball and UM Duwayne Ewart stole the ball and with the goalie caught out at 10 yards shot a 22 yarder just
over the bar. The next minute had UM Whyte miss a close chance in the box. 41 minutes had UM Jalen Brome cross
from 30 yards on left that had the offside Whyte wisely left the ball pass him by and UM Bojan Zoranovic missed a 6 yard
tap-in and the ball went out for a goalkick. 44 minutes had Whyte intercept a clearance and sent a 12 yard roller that
was smothered by the diving goalie. Good practice as the next minute was Whyte's goal.

54 minutes had UM Dimitrov roll a pass forward and to the right to UM Marc Jankovic who crossed from 12 yards and
UM Ewart couldn't quite twist a header from 8 yards. 78 minutes had UM Dimitrov take a 30 yard freekick from the
left that hit the football goalpost bar about 2 feet above the soccer bar. NMP Sebastian Lopez then did almost the
same with a 30 yard freekick that hit the right post of the football uprights. 85 minutes had NMP Lee-Victor Massunda
cross from 22 yards on the left and NMP Jong Won Jung slid at 5 yards on the right post but he jabbed the ball wide
right on the last good chance of the night.

I had been reading about the new Canadian Premier League's first tryouts in Halifax and wondered if I'd recognize anyone.
Surprised when they published the list of survivors from the first day on Thursday and then the 28 who passed Friday's cuts.
That means they will get an invite to one of the seven teams' training camps. Coaches from all the teams were there
so it doesn't mean that any in particular will play for the Halifax Wanderers. Look there's four names on that list
I recognize from L1O rosters. The midfield brothers Navid and Adel Rahman from Pro Stars, and forward Kiril Dimitrov
from Unionville Milliken and defender Daniel Whyte from North Mississauga! The tryouts haven't even hit Ontario yet
and there's four L1O players. Wait until they hit Hamilton and Toronto!

I didn't expect to see either of the players tonight as they'd have been in Halifax until at least late afternoon when
the trials ended. Daniel Whyte wasn't here but Dimitrov played and had the assist on the only goal of the game.
I wanted to congratulate him—I used to watch him on Serbian White Eagles of the CSL before I switched to L1O when
it started in 2014—but he was subbed out at 80 minutes and must have disappeared to the locker room before the game ended.

I asked about the both of them with their coaches tonight. Some knew about it while some of the lesser team officials
were listening in and said “He did what?”. Now there's still so many questions of what the CPL budget be like—that
a player getting a contract offer will be willing to uproot and move to a new city for a salary of $XX,XXX or if
it's not worth giving up their day job and family commitments.

The win improves Unionville Milliken's record to 6 wins, 5 losses, 5 ties for 23 points. They are now safely
in seventh place and tonight's result clinches a playoff spot. They are a first year team to L1O but some of the
players were together for last year's Canadian Soccer League Champions York Region Shooters. That team paired
with the youth team of Unionville Milliken Soccer Club to form this team. UM has a Women's team in L1O that has
a one year head start on the Men's team.

North Mississauga ends their season with a record of 3 wins, 9 losses, and 4 ties for 13 points. They had been
eliminated from playoff contention a few weeks ago. They finish in a tie for thirteenth with an identical record
with OSUF from Ottawa in the seventeen team league.
