By Kacian Whyte

A hat-trick from Steven Furlano secured an important victory for Alliance United FC over Pro Stars FC
as the east-side GTA club looks to claim playoff status.

Alliance United FC kicked off the game in a 4-3-3 while Pro Stars FC were in the same formation.

Alliance controlled the tempo of the game as they dominated possession and shots on net
(five on target, three off-target).

Despite leading in attempts, a frustrated Alliance could not put the ball on target in the early going.

The best attempt came in the 30th minute when Steven Furlano placed a corner into the box. The ball
deflected off one of the Pro Stars' defenders and bounced to the top of the box where Alliance's
Nirunthan Sivananthan blasted it at the net. Pro Stars' goalkeeper Aaron Peters replied by pushing
the ball over the crossbar.

The first goal for Alliance came in the added time of the first half, when Furlano (45' + 1') put away
a penalty kick after being brought down from a challenge by Michael Borowski. Alliance took the
one goal lead into the half-time break.

The second half commenced in a similar fashion as the first, Alliance controlling the pace and
Pro Stars struggling to connect passes. The Stars were forced to defend for the entire half.

The second goal for Alliance arrived late in the game off a free-kick, Furlano (83') slamming the
ball through a gap in the Pro Stars' defensive wall.

Finally, Furlano (90') earned himself the hat-trick after finishing off a cross from the right side,
heading the ball past Peters. Alliance had claimed an important victory.

Pro Stars FC will play their final match of the season on September 22 (7 p.m.) when they host
Vaughan Azzurri at Victoria Park Stadium, Brampton.

Alliance United FC will travel to Monarch Park Stadium, Toronto on September 23 (2 p.m.)
to take on the Sanjaxx Lions.
