September 15, 2018 League 1 Ontario--Unionville Milliken SC vs Sanjaxx Lions game review (from League 1 Ontario website)
Yuma Brace Earns Point With Unionville, Pulls Sanjaxx Within Striking Distance Of Playoffs 09/15/2018, 1:30pm EDT By Mahdi Ghaffaribarzi Sanjaxx Lions took the lead from the penalty spot through Dieu Merci Yuma (30'), but Unionville Milliken S.C. turned it around in the space of two minutes thanks to the golden substitution Bojan Zoranovic (70', 71'). However, it was again Yuma (73') again to score for Sanjaxx to register a 2-2 draw and keep the Lions in the playoff hunt. Sanjaxx were the side to first find the net. A handball by Unionville handed a penalty to them, and Dieu Merci Yuma (30') converted by sending the keeper the wrong way. The visitors could have doubled the lead minutes later, but Unionville keeper Adrian Ibanez palmed a shot from inside the box out from under the bar. On the other hand, the host caused a few scares though they did not manage any shot on target in the first frame. Unionville had the better second half, but it was difficult for them to open up Sanjaxx's stingy defence. Finally, at the 70th minute, the pressure paid off and the host back on level terms. A corner from the left side seemed ineffective, but Bojan Zoranovic, who had come off the bench in halftime, reached back his heel to flick it upwards and behind him before dipping into the far corner. It was a remarkable goal. Just a minute later, Zoranovic scored again, this time with a tap-in on a low cross from the left flank. On 73 minutes, Sanjaxx tied it up after Yuma sent the ball into the back of the net from very close range, setting up a tense finale. In the final 15 minutes, both sides were looking for the go-ahead goal but with different plans. Unionville pushed forward and Sanjaxx relied on counters, but neither side found the net again as the match ended 2-2. Unionville Milliken S.C.'s next match is against North Mississauga SC on September 22 (8 p.m) at Bill Crothers Turf Centre, Unionville. Sanjaxx Lions will face Alliance United FC at Monarch Park Stadium, Toronto on September 23 (2 p.m.).
