North Mississauga Panthers fell to Oakville Blue Devils 4-0 and watched their playoff hopes slip
from their control.

It took only 32 seconds for Blue Devils' forward Filip Vilela (1') to score the opening goal
for Oakville. Vilela's opening goal created an uphill battle for the Panthers right from
the start.

Despite North Mississauga's attempts to mount attacks, breaking past Oakville's imperious
centre-back, Konner McNamara, proved to be too much for the red and black side.

With only one successful attempt on net, the Panthers went down a man in the 38th minute after
left forward Tristan Watson was dismissed from the match for accumulating multiple cautions.

North Mississauga was able to fend off the Blue Devils for the remainder of the half,
but after 45 minutes of play the Oakville Blue Devils maintained a strong hold on the game.
The Devils had controlled the tempo of the game as well as dominated possession and attempts
(four on target, two off target).

It was not long into the second half when the Blue Devils' goal-machine and current
league-leading scorer, Anthony Novak (65'), was able to secure the second Oakville goal
after facing off with North Mississaugas goal keeper, Sypro Stergiotis.

The keeper came out of net to challenge Novak, but Novak smartly tucked it under the keeper
and into the back of the net.

Novak (73') struck again as he rose up to place a header past the keeper after receiving
a cross from the right flank, giving the Blue Devils a commanding 3-0 lead. With this goal,
Novak's lead in the race for the Golden Boot was extended to 18 goals in 15 games.

The final goal for Oakville came in added time when speedster Khody Ellis (90'+ 2') was
able to place the ball on target after two previous failed attempts.

Despite's North Mississauga's increase in chances while playing a man down in the
second half, it was not enough to make a comeback against Oakville. The Blue Devils
keeper Lucas Birnstingl walked away with a clean sheet after saving three shots on target
from the opposition.

The Panthers will move on in regular season play as they travel to L'Amoreaux, Toronto
to take on Masters FA Saints on September 15 (8 p.m.).

Oakville play their final game of regular season on September 16 (4 p.m.) when they
host Darby FC at Bronte Sports Park, Oakville.
