August 13, 2018 League 1 Ontario--Unionville Milliken SC vs Toronto Skillz FC game review (from League 1 Ontario website)
Sivakumar Strike Seals The Result For Skillz Over Unionville 08/13/2018, 4:15pm EDT By Anthony Gallo Strong defensive play and accurate finishing was the recipe for the visiting Toronto Skillz side as they took all three points away from first year club Unionville-Milliken S.C. following a 2-0 result. The match began with Unionville-Milliken opting for a 4-1-4-1 formation, as the Skillz went with a 3-5-2 look. Toronto Skillz didn't waste much time, pressing high and able to keep the ball deep in their opponent's half for the majority of the first 15 minutes. Both sides traded good opportunities to score first, but nothing really came from their efforts. Skillz central midfielder Anfal Ekhlas (36') placed his shot bottom right to earn his second of the season and put his side on the scoreboard first. The second half would finish with Skillz getting three shots on target, whereas their opponents were unable to get anything on goal within the first 45 minutes. Toronto Skillz extended their lead off a rebounded effort from striker Vithunan Sivakumar (58'). For the rest of the match Unionville had glimpses of opportunities to get on the scoreboard, but their inability to get the ball inside their opponent's defensive third and costly interceptions in the middle of the pitch plagued them. This match saw Toronto Skillz improve their recent form, earning their second win in the last five. A stat that stands out for Toronto is their ability to score, finding the back of the net nine times in their five matches. When asked after the match why he thought his team have been able to create more goal scoring opportunities as of late, first year Skillz coach Wais Azizi said, "we're finally finding our stride in a way that we want to play." The win for Skillz sees them improve to 3-9-0 (9 points), while Unionville-Milliken drop to 4-5-3 (15 points) The next match for Unionville will be an away match against Aurora FC on August 19 (4:00 p.m.) at Stewart Burnett Park, Aurora. As for Toronto Skillz, they will host Master’s Futbol on August 19 (5:00 p.m.) at Birchmount Stadium, Toronto.
