August 13, 2018 League 1 Ontario--Oakville Blue Devils vs Ottawa South United Force game review (from League 1 Ontario website)
Hat-Trick By Oakville's Novak Over OSU Is Good For First In Golden Boot Race 08/13/2018, 4:00pm EDT By Kacian Whyte Oakville Blue Devils secured three points, crept up on fourth place in the table, and put their forward Anthony Novak (3', 15', 17') top of the Golden Boot race after defeating Ottawa South United Force (OSU) 5-0. The uphill battle for OSU started very quickly as Anthony Novak open the scoring just minutes in from the penalty spot after Satsumi Hirano was brought down in the box. Novak quickly extended the lead for the Blue Devils after Rajvir Khalon picked up the ball on the left, beat one defender, and drove it hard and low across the front post, where Novak tipped in. Novak bagged a hat-trick within a couple minute after Hitesh Joshi threw the ball into the play, where Novak flicked it over a defender, and booted it in on the first bounce into the far left side of the net. Novak's third goal pushed him top of the scoring chart as he passes FC London's Conner Wilson. The scoring for the Blue Devils continued as Stephen Ademolu (41') extended the lead after Hirano played the ball to Novak down the right wing. Novak crossed to Khalon, who played one touch to Ademolu and he tucked it away in the bottom right. OSU was forced to defend all first half as Oakville dominated possession, resulting in Ottawa having zero attempts on net while Oakville secured five shots on target. Oakville's goal-fest continued in the second half as Joshi (65') made it 5-0 after Khalon slipped the ball down the left wing to Novak, who beat a defender to pass to Joshi. Joshi finished on the first touch. Ottawa was able to break out of their half late in the game to make two attempts on target but was unable to find the net. The victory, along with a clean sheet for Oakville goalkeeper Karman Saini and a golden hat-trick from Anthony Novak, resulted in a very successful game for the Blue Devils. The Oakville Blue Devils will travel on August 16 (8:30 p.m.) when they will take on FC London at the German Canadian FC Stadium, London. Ottawa South United will travel to take on Toronto FC III at BMO Training Ground & Academy, Toronto on August 19 (1:00 p.m.).
