Extra Time Strikes From OSU's Watson, Sophas Sink The Skillz 07/22/2018, 3:00pm EDT By Allie Pike Ottawa South United and Toronto Skillz FC took turns scoring the first four back and forth goals, but a final push from Ottawa South United resulted in two late goals that ultimately gave them the win. Ottawa South United did not wait long to get on the scoreboard as Scott Mazzotta (3') scored just minutes into the first half. Although Ottawa South United would maintain their one goal lead for most of the first half, an equalizer from Toronto Skillz FC's Zamir Mohammad (41') would close out the half with an even score. In the second half, Myles Cornwall (78') briefly put Ottawa South United back in the lead but this lead would only last a few minutes. Toronto Skillz FC would come right back with another equalizer from Michael Jashan (83') minutes later. Just when it looked as though the match would end in a draw, Ottawa South United found some late energy and made a couple of successful offensive attacks. Eric Watson(90') first found the back of the net with Kaweke Sophas’ breakaway goal following closely behind (90' + 4'). Ottawa South United's two late goals would decide the match. Ottawa South United's second win of the season, their first at home, moved them up a few spots in the men's division standings to twelfth spot. After their eighth loss of the season, Toronto Skillz FC remain close to the bottom of the men's division standings in sixteenth spot. Ottawa South United continues at home next week, hosting Master's Futbol on July 28 (3:30 p.m.) at Quinn's Pointe, Ottawa. Toronto Skillz FC will next play the Sanjaxx Lions on July 29 (5:00 p.m.) at Birchmount Stadium, Toronto.
