The first UM player lets ball roll by as he was covered and UM Martinez slides to shoot 20 yarder over net while even
with left post alignment. Darby McFarlane was injured on this play on a slide attempt on UM Kim.

Attendance was about 60 at this indoor facility.

This was the third home game of the week for Darby. This game was their best result as last Friday
I was here and saw them draw Aurora FC 1-1 which had been an improvement on their 4-1 loss to Toronto Skillz
the Sunday before. Then Tuesday night they held a 2-0 lead over TFC III and couldn't hold on and lost 5-2.
Tonight the game was pretty even until they scored the insurance goal.

Three games in a week may help explain why there were so many injuries and not just as a time wasting device.
Referee Lukasz Kowalewski was prepared for a rough game giving out two Yellow cards to each team in the
first half with maybe a record setting first card at 25 seconds to Darby captain Cameron Brooks for
tripping Isaiah-Prentice Whyte setting up a dangerous freekick from 20 yards. 4 minutes had a bumping
of heads of UM teammates Jalen Brome and Bradley Heath jumping for a header. They both needed the trainer
before they could continue and then Heath pulled up a second time he was replaced at the 10 minute mark.
Both teams used their maximum five substitutions which isn't unusual but three Darby players had to leave
because of injury. Amrik McFarlane was injured at 52 minutes, Jemuel Paul was injured at 71 minutes
and goal scorer Marcellus Paul was injured at 86 minutes. Jonathan Parolini was injured at 87 minutes
but had to continue as Darby had used all their subs by that point.

Matt Zaikos earned the shutout for Darby having to make a few good saves. Best of them was at 74 minutes
when UM Tre Crosby sent in a low cross from the right from just outside the box and UM Nicolas Martinez
slid to send a low 12 yarder that he was able to smother on the left side of the goal. Second half
injury time had UM captain Richard Edwards cross from the left and UM Victor Berenguer was tapped a pass
and shot a low 12 yarder that Zaikos was able to smother. Four minutes later (yes six minutes of injury
time because of all the injuries) had UM Hassan Abdulmumini blast a 20 yard shot down the middle that
Zaikos was able to palm over the bar.

When the first goal was scored so late in first half injury time in such a crowd of players in the box
there was no announcement (in fact the referee blew the whistle before the restart) I asked the Darby manager
who scored the goal. I did double check with Marcellus Paul that it was him as his younger brother
Jemuel Paul was also playing. Marcellus answered that I would have seen him play in Mississauga
in the CSL days.

The win improves Darby's record to 3 wins, 4 losses, 2 ties to 11 points. That moves them up to a three way
tie for eighth place with Alliance United and North Mississauga although they have played two games more
and one game more respectively than those two teams.

Unionville's record falls to 4 wins, 4 losses, and 2 ties for 14 points. They hold on to seventh place
at least for the time being as this is the first game of the weekend. Teams have to finish ninth or better
to make the playoffs (TFC III who are second right now won't be taking part).
