Sigma FC took the victory over Masters FA after scoring back-to-back penalties to secure
a 2-0 victory late in the second half.

Both sides started off playing 4-3-3 which created an exciting fast paced game between
the two sides, defined by the one v one battles all over the field.

The speed of play between Sigma and Masters saw a number of fouls take place, which caused
two free-kicks for Sigma, a caution for Masters' Marc Jankovic, and an early substitution
when Randy Miyenga came in for Kevin Dhillon after he went down with an injury in the 30th minute.

Sigma's Tristan Henry managed to make some brilliant saves, as Masters FA took four shots
on target in the first half. Sigma only found three shots on the target in the first half
but they dominated possession overall and had a combined total of 10 shots (three on target,
seven off target).

Sigma's Jelani "the Giant" Smith, who played centre back this match, and right back
Dionysis Stergiotis, made it next to impossible for Masters' striker Sahjah Reid to get close
to the net; the duo closed down his efforts from the wing and from central attacking positions.

First half concluded with a score line of 0-0 with Sigma FC leading in both possession and attempts.

The fast paced game continued in the second half, when Marcel Zajac took a free-kick and put
it one inch over the cross-bar. Movement by David Velastegui and Giuliano Frano had caused
destruction in the opponent's defensive wall, which allowed Zajac to find space to get the ball
through, but it was agonizingly off-target.

The deadlock was broken after David Velastegui (87') put away a penalty kick earned after Hilli Goldhar
was taken down in the box with a reckless challenge.

The second goal for Sigma came when Velastegui (90' + 3') put away another penalty kick after
Tayjon Buchanan was taken down in the box following a reckless challenge from Masters' goalkeeper
Spindon Koskinas.

Sigma took home all three points, which saw them move to first place in the standings with
an undefeated record of 7-0-1

Next the boys in blue will travel north to face Aurora FC on July 18 (9 p.m.) at Stewart Burnett Park, Aurora.

Master FA Saints will host Woodbridge Strikers on July 21 (8 p.m.) at L' Amoreaux, Toronto.
