Emmanuel Issac (53'), Mathew Santos (72'), and Matthew Strangis (87') helped Woodbridge Strikers
collect all three points after a 3-1 win over the visitors Aurora FC.

The scoreless first half started with the teams sharing possession, with the majority of the game
being played in the middle of the field.

Woodbridge's best chance would come in the 17th minute when Santos looked clear on goal, but his
shot was blocked by the sliding tackle of Aurora's Ian Vidovic.

Aurora would absorb a lot of pressure towards the end of the first half as Woodbridge were unable
to execute in the attacking third.

The stalemate would be broken early in the second half as a cross was sent in from the right-hand
side to Woodbridge’s Issac (53'), who controlled it, and with his back against goal, turned his
defender and buried one into the bottom left corner.

Woodbridge would go up 2-0 when Santos (72') dribbled into the box from the left side, cut past
his defender, and slotted a left foot shot past Scanlon into the back of the net.

Aurora's goalkeeper, Adam Scanlon, was kept busy this half coming off his line to make crucial
diving saves and racing out to clear balls slotted through the back line.

Aurora found themselves with more possession and chances late in the game.

Substitute Karamvir Mehmi had a great chance as he was left unmarked in the box but his header
off the cross just skimmed over the bar.

Woodbridge's Federico Leal sent a through ball to substitute Strangis (87’), who beat the keeper
on a breakaway and finished on target putting the Strikers up 3-0.

In extra time, Aurora's Dylan Rennie was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick being
awarded by the referee.

Rennie (90+4') made no mistake from the mark finishing in the back of the net preventing Woodbridge's
goalkeeper Tyrone Williams from walking away with the clean sheet.

Woodbridge will next play Windsor TFC on Saturday July 14 (4 p.m.)
at University of Windsor Stadium, Windsor.

Aurora will next play Darby FC on Friday July 13 (8 p.m) at Whitby Soccer Centre, Whitby.
