July 9, 2018 League 1 Ontario--Oakville Blue Devils vs Toronto FC III game review (from League 1 Ontario)
Oakville Hands Leaders' TFC III First 2018 Loss 07/09/2018, 2:45pm EDT By Robert Cerjanec The Oakville Blue Devils outlasted Toronto FC III on a hot and sunny afternoon at Sheridan College Stadium to beat the current table-toppers 2-0. After a tense and largely uneventful opening 45 minutes, late goals from Filipe Vilela (84') and Anthony Novak (90') were enough for the hosts to collect a valuable three points. The majority of the first half saw Oakville in the ascendency, creating four corner kicks in the opening 15 minutes, but they were unable to convert any into a clear-cut scoring chance. Similarly, TFCIII were limited to a couple of strikes from distance that failed to trouble Oakville keeper Matt George. The second half picked up where the first left off, with both sides struggling to create opportunities in the hot conditions. Oakville finally found the break through, Vilela (84') slotting home from in close following a nice run and turn from Stephen Ademolu. The hosts put the game away when Junior Roserie, who subbed on just moments earlier, made a nice touch pass under keeper Sebastian Sgarbossa for Anthony Novak (90') to put away into an open net. Next up for the Blue Devils is a match-up against ProStars FC on July 14 (7 p.m.) at Victoria Park, Brampton. TFC III will look to rebound when they visit Darby FC on July 17 (8 p.m.) at Whitby Soccer Centre, Whitby.
