July 8, 2018 League 1 Ontario--Pro Stars vs Masters FA game review (from League 1 Ontario)
Uadiale, Chrysanthou Lead Pro Stars Comeback In 2-2 Draw With Masters 07/08/2018, 8:15pm EDT By Irene Halis It was an exciting second half come-back by Pro Stars on Saturday night, drawing points away from Masters FA in a last-minute thriller that barely ended in a 2-2 draw - both teams struck the woodwork in the dying minutes of the game. The match started off with equal possession as both teams had chances on goal, but couldn't quite get their shots on target. Masters' Sahjah Reid had a chance when he made a great turn and unleashed a shot that just skimmed the top of the crossbar. Pro Stars almost got in on goal as Masters' goalkeeper Spiridon Koskinas was forced to come collect off his line. A break would come later on for Masters when Reshaun Walkes (16') struck a shot from the left hand side that nestled just inside the back post. Pro Stars' Marco Polancec-Marin almost equalized six minutes later, his shot from distance testing Koskinas as it struck the top of the crossbar. Pro Stars' goalkeeper Aaron Peters came out of his box to clear a dangerous ball and missed the clearance – surely one of a goalkeeper's worst nightmares - and Reid (39') capitalized on the opportunity, passing it into the net to put Masters up 2-0. As the second half rolled around, Masters began finding themselves on the back-foot with Pro Stars really pressuring and getting chances off set-pieces. Pro Stars would get on the scoreboard after Ezekiel Uadiale (48') was slotted through by a teammate and shot a right foot rocket past the keeper. Masters' goalkeeper Koskinas was kept very busy in the second half, with seven shots on target, and five off target. Pro Stars' Jason Muzvidziwa had a great chance as his shot sent Koskinas flying to his right to make a desperate one-handed save. On the counter-attack, Pro Stars' Peters was forced to make some great saves to keep his team in the game. Pro Stars really pressured their opponents in the last 20 minutes, splitting the Masters' back-line and getting all sorts of chances. The equalizer would finally come from the boot of substitute Anthony Crysanthou (84'), who was slotted through all alone and put his finish on target. A minute later, Crysanthou almost put Pro Stars ahead, but his shot was denied by the right post. Remarkably, Masters would get denied by the right post at the other end only minutes later, with Bradley Fenton successfully turning his defender but putting his effort off the frame. Pro Stars FC next host Oakville Blue Devils Saturday July 14 (7 p.m.) at Victoria Park Stadium, Brampton. Masters FA Saints next play Sigma FC Saturday July 14 (4 p.m.) at Hershey Centre, Mississauga.
