Sigma FC Batters FC London 8-0 In L1 Cup Quarter-Final

Sigma FC advanced to the semi-finals of the L1 Cup after defeating FC London with a blow-out score of 8-0. 

The "Boys In Blue" kicked off the game in attacking mode with a 4-3-3 formation quickly forcing FC London
to defend.

It didn't take long for Sigma to get on the board as Kyle Walton (3') opened scoring in from a free-kick
after being brought down two yards outside the box.

Kadell Thomas (6') added to the board shortly after, finding the back of the net following a tidy give and go
with Jelani Smith. 

Shortly after assisting Thomas, Smith (11') extended the lead by scoring a header only to follow up with what
could be consider the goal of the week.

After bring down a bouncing ball with his chest, Smith (22') volleyed he ball over the goalkeeper and into the
top right corner of the net, bring the score line to 4-0.

The first half ended with a score line of 5-0 after Justin Stoddart (29') added to the goal-fest, receiving
a long ball from Thomas and finishing nicely. 

During the second half, London seem to find some hold on the game as they made three attempts in ten minutes,
however the effort put in by the boys from London couldn't produce to a goal. 

Second half substitutions by London tried to change the course of the game, but the boys in blue shifted from
an attacking style of play to a defensive focus as coach Bobby Smyrniotis replaced three of his four defenders. 

Sigma was still able to tighten their hold on the scoreline as Thomas (55', 77') found a hat-trick. Judah (84')
closed out the scoring for the match with a goal minute from full-time. 

Sigma will play the winner of today’s (June 23, 2018) match featuring Pro Stars vs Toronto FC III
in the L1 Cup semi-final.  

Knocked out from the L1 Cup with this result, FC London will focus on league play with their next match
vs North Mississauga on July 7 at Hershey Centre (9 p.m. k.o.).
