Toronto Skillz rebounded from a 5-0 loss last week against Oakville with a stunning 1-0 over Vaughan Azzurri 
on the road on Saturday night.  Tim Mahabir rocketed a freekick down the middle from 30 yards that sailed 
over the player wall and through the upraised hands of goalie Praveen Ahilan and just under the bar.  
Vaughan dominated the game but their shots were mostly off target.  Their numerous freekicks were sent into 
the wall, wide, or skied over the net.  

Skillz were hanging on at the end getting the benefit of two goals called back for offsides.  Five minutes of injury 
time was deservedly added and in injury time there were three Skillz players rolling around on the field at the same 
time 30 yards apart.  Peter Lyczywek earned the shutout.  

Skillz opened last year with an 0-12-0 record and waited until August 13th for their first win and ended with 
a 4-18-0 record.  

I was able to clear up with Azzurri staff that their new facilities opening at the end of June is NOT the same 
location as the York 9 CanPrem planned stadium.  Both are on Kirby Road between Keele and Jane (ie somewhat less 
than 3 km apart).  I asked if the team will move in by the playoffs are scheduled in October but the official wasn't 
sure as the dressing rooms may not be finished by then.  Right now the players have to dodge traffic to cross the
street and get to their dressing rooms at the Maple Community Centre.  That's a reason why neither team went back
to their dressing rooms at halftime.   

The scoreboard clock was not working today.  Soon Azzurri officials won't have to complain to the city for repairs
because they'll own their equipment at their new site.  

The new premises will mean their youth teams won't have to be scattered all over the city.  

A Skillz officials confirmed that Tiger Fitzpatrick who was a player/coach last year is no longer with the team.
