Darby FC and Woodbridge Strikers tied 1-1 after Woodbridge's Joshua Paredes-Proctor (90')
got the very late equalizer.

Both teams came out with high intensity in the first half looking for the go-ahead goal for their
respective team, with both goals coming later in the second half.

Woodbridge outshot their opponents 6-3 in the first half. Emmanual Issac had three great chances
but couldn't quite find the target as he sailed two of his opportunities over the bar, and one
just wide of the net.

Darby goalkeeper, Matt Zaikos, kept his team in the game after coming off his line to win a 50/ 50
tackle at the top of the eighteen, only to quickly retreat to his goal and make a fantastic save
against Woodbridge's Paredes-Proctor, who fired a shot from half attempting to catch Zaikos
off his goal line.

The intensity of the game did not let loose in the second half as both Zaikos and Woodbridge's
Roberto Stillo made diving saves to keep the match scoreless.

The stalemate was broken when Darby's Steven Furlano (66') took a pass from his teammate and fired
a right-foot shot low into the back of the net, beating Stillo.

Darby's Aaron Chia almost sealed the three points for his team in the 90th minute after an unlucky
one-time shot ricochet off the crossbar.

Woodbridge would in turn get a chance at the other end seconds later with Paredes-Proctor’s left
foot laser finding the back of the net to tie the game up at 1-1.

The draw puts both teams in the middle of the table after Matchweek 1, with lots of games left
to play this season.

Darby FC will next play Sigma FC on May 5 (8:30 p.m.) at Whitby Soccer Centre.

Woodbridge Strikers will next play Ottawa South United on May 5 (3:30 p.m.) at Quinn’s Point.
