Dwayne Ewart (31') and Kashiff De Jonge (65') combined goals with a clean sheet from 
Durham United FA's Eugene Alves to give the away side a result over Aurora FC. 

"It's been a while since we've been able to dictate the tempo of the game," said Durham 
head coach, Sanford Carabin. 

"We're slowly getting back to how we were last year. This year we've been a little 
inconsistent with that, but when we're able to control the tempo of the game, pass the 
ball and move, we're a much more effective team. Today I thought we did a better job." 

"Their goalkeeper made some great saves and I was mainly happy that we were creating 
the chances we were creating," he added. 

"We probably could have put in three or four in the first half. Credit to their goalkeeper, 
he made three point-blank saves that kept his team in the game."

Aurora made a tactical switch mid-way through the first half, looking to put Durham under 
greater pressure in the defensive line and find the equalizer. 

"It was a tactical change," said Aurora head coach, Derek O'Keeffe. 

"When they scored their first goal, we just wanted to be a bit more direct. We brought 
on Aidane [Elder], whose first game it was," he said. 

"He's a big man so we just decided to go more route one football, try and knock it up 
to him. It nearly worked. We hit the post twice and I think we just caused them a lot 
more problems because we were tiring in the middle previously and not linking with 
the front men as we should have been." 

Both teams brought through several new prospects throughout the match and were impressed 
with their contributions.

"We had some heavy legs but we have some young guys we are trying to integrate and this 
is the time of year," said Carabin. 

"We brought in some of our U21s and our U18s into the squad and we brought on three 
today and I thought they did great today. They hit the ground running. They have been 
training with us all year but for two of them it was their first game. I think one 
of them was unlucky not to get a goal." 

We had seven U17, U18 players with us today," said Aurora's O'Keeffe. 

"I think the oldest player was probably 21. I think that's amazing, personally. We were 
in the game and hit the post a couple of times, very much in the game - I think we should 
have tied it. But considering our age and our experience, first time playing League1, 
I thought it was very good."

Aurora FC will next play North Toronto Nitros on September 10 at Esther Shiner Stadium, Toronto. 

Durham United FA will next play Woodbridge Strikers on September 8 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering.
