August 28, 2017 League 1 Ontario--Match Recap: Masters FA Saints vs Vaughan Azzurri (from League 1 Ontario)
Match Recap: Masters FA Saints 0 - 6 Vaughan Azzurri 08/28/2017, 12:00am EDT By League1 Ontario staff Vaughan Azzurri ran up six goals from six different players and a clean sheet on their way to a 6-0 defeat of Masters FA Saint. "We've been able to rediscover some good form and we've been getting good, positive results, so we're very happy about that," said Vaughan assistant coach, Patrice Gheisar. Joseph Di Chiara (15'), Ryan Raposo (31'), Dante Pavan (44'), Jarek Whiteman (65'), Jorgo Nika (75') and Tre Crosby (90') put away their chances, while keeper Colm Vance maintained a clean sheet. "We rotate a lot of guys that we believe are just as good to be starters, and today we just saw a different need," said Gheisar. "They came in and put the workload of ninety minutes in just ten or fifteen minutes and they really helped us out." With the loss, Masters' winless record is extended to five in a row. "To be honest with you, it is a little bit frustrating," said Masters owner, Junior Groves. "I think we had a hard time today, and the reason for that difficulty was how Vaughan were playing very well. In addition they caught us on a day when we were missing our starters, for various reasons." "Vaughan did very very well to put themselves in a winning position. Our players are frustrated right now because the ball just does not seem to fall to us to put in the back of the net and they blame nobody but themselves." Groves said his side had a day when nothing seemed to go right for the players at either end of the pitch. "Our defenders had opened up to make space for the holding midfielder and he got trapped with the ball," he said. "Our holding midfielder David Alva is a spectacular player, but he just had a bad day today like everyone." "We had five chances before Vaughan had two, so if we scored our chances than the game probably changes." Masters FA Saints will next play OSU Force on September 9 at Carleton University, Ottawa. Vaughan Azzurri will next play Toronto Skillz on September 10 at Birchmount Stadium, Scarborough.
