August 8, 2017 League 1 Ontario--Match Recap: Pro Stars FC vs Aurora FC (from League 1 Ontario)
Match Recap: Pro Stars FC 0 - 2 Aurora FC 08/08/2017, 9:30am EDT By League1 Ontario staff Jared Agyemang (75') and Karamvir Mehmi (90') scored a goal each to give Aurora FC their second win of the season following a 2-0 result over hosts Pro Stars FC. Aurora keepers Adam Scanlon and Alexander Jakma split the clean sheet for the visitors on a day when everything seemed to go the way of Aurora. "I thought we deserved it, to be honest," said Aurora head coach, Derek O'Keeffe. "That has been coming for a while." "The first half I thought we did well, everything we did we did well. We just didn't move the ball quickly enough and a little dry or rough in front of goal. At half-time we just spoke about moving the ball better, having more quality in the box and testing the keeper." "Keepers can make mistakes and that's what happened today for the first one, so bit of luck but I think we deserved it at this point." Pro Stars assistant coach Larry Muntean thought his side were unlucky to lose the match, but blamed an inability to find the net for the loss. "We dominated the match and had five or six chances," said Muntean. "Unfortunately this is soccer when you don't put the chances on, they come back against you. Small mistake from the keeper, but we should have had that game. We dominated especially the second half." "Our defence was really strong, but our weakness was that we couldn't put the ball in the net," he continued. "Everyone had chances, forwards had chances, midfield had chances. We missed really obvious chances and it was frustrating. I think the team worked for it on the field and wanted to win, and I was happy with second half first part when they dominated and the other team couldn't pass the middle. But you cannot win without scoring goals. This is an improvement though and we will keep working and hope that it will improve and get the win that we need." Pro Stars FC will next play Durham United FA on August 11 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering. Aurora FC will next play Oakville Blue Devils on August 12 at St. Maximillion Kolbe HS, Aurora.
