July 18, 2017 League 1 Ontario--Match Recap: Sanjaxx Lions vs North Toronto Nitros (from League 1 Ontario)
Match Recap: Sanjaxx Lions 0 - 5 North Toronto Nitros 07/18/2017, 10:30am EDT By League1 Ontario staff North Toronto Nitros left it to the last twenty minutes of the match, but eventually located five successful strikes to defeat Sanjaxx Lions by a score of 5-0. "I think in the first half we had chances to score, but we didn't finish the chances," said North Toronto assistant coach, Ilya Orlov. "In the second half they tired out and we kept playing well. After that we just had chances, and we converted them. Physically we were playing well throughout." Kembo Kibato (74'), Callum Fleming (75'), Nirun Sivananthan (78'), Anthony Sousa (81') and Myles Abreo (88') broke down Sanjaxx defence over and over in a 14 minute period that changed the match completely. "It was an even game but at the seventieth minute some of the players were complaining of fatigue so I had to make some changes," revealed Sanjaxx coach, Devon Porter. "We are not at full strength so we have to play with what we have, but I don't mean that as any excuse. You come here to compete, it's eleven versus eleven, and if we continued to play we could have got a result from the game." "If you fail to do the simple things like receive properly, for example if under pressure play past or away from pressure, you will struggle," he added. "We did well in staying behind the ball, closing down people, getting it back and playing when we can. At the end of it we have to say we lost the game in ten minutes, and that is unacceptable." "Whatever players we bring need to work and work hard, and if they do that they will be fine." Sanjaxx Lions will next play OSU Force on July 22 at Terry Fox South, Ottawa. North Toronto Nitros will next play Sigma FC on July 22 at Varsity Stadium, Toronto.
