Match Recap: Masters FA Saints 2 - 0 Pro Stars FC

Devonte Brown (28') and Jose Melo (53') potted their chances while keeper Daniel Gosciniak ensured 
Pro Stars wouldn't finish theirs as Masters FA Saints rolled to a 2-0 win over the Brampton academy 
and extended their impressive run of form under new manager, Rick Titus. 

"I think we will keep moving in a positive direction," said Titus. "The players have had a good 
approach to training and we have cohesion right now amongst the team."

"I think in the next two or three games we should continue to get good results. I don't expect 
that we will lose very many matches, and I do expect that we will go out and play our best 
football each time and respond to adversity with a bit of professionalism and a bit of haste."

Pro Stars struggled in the first half to register high-percentage chances on the Masters' goal, 
but even when presented with a breakaway they could not beat Gosciniak.

"We could have tied the game or won the game but learning to win is something that takes some 
time to reach and it requires some experience," said Pro Stars head coach, Josef Komlodi.

"We are patient with these young players."

"Everyone knows we are the youngest team in the league," he added. 

"Our academy is a young academy and we are relying on the players that are growing up in the 
system. There will be some growing pains and that is to be expected as young players will make 
mistakes. We had some chances today and couldn't take those chances. We believe that as we get 
deeper into the season, one point will turn into more."

"Ultimately, we are using League1 to develop players and move them on to international 
opportunities," he concluded. "This is a league for developing players in their final stages."

Pro Stars were reduced to ten men after George Owusu took his second caution in the match, 
but the effect of the dismissal was to galvanize the young team and they nearly made in-roads 
on a late comeback.

"Well sometimes it happens when a team goes down a man, the team that is at full-strength 
reacts as though it doesn't have to work as hard," said Masters' Titus. 

"Psychologically the team that is down a man reacts as though it is wounded and needs 
to react better and I think that is what happened today."

Masters will next play North Mississauga Panthers on July 15 at Hershey Centre, Mississauga.

Pro Stars will next play Vaughan Azzurri on July 15 at Avondale Stadium, Brampton.
