Alex Halis (54', 62') scored a brace for Sigma to eventually reward his team with
three points, in spite of a late goal by Toronto Skillz Anhr El Eidani (67') that
made for a tense finish.

"I think we had most of the flow in the first half but we weren't very good with what
we wanted to do as far as our gameplan," said Sigma's head coach, Bobby Smyrniotis.

"We adjusted a few things in the second half and I thought it was very good. We scored
two goals, we had multiple chances, and we had them pinned for the most part
in their half."

"However with one transition they ended up scoring the goal, and yes they did have
one penalty shot but regardless from that I think we created another eight
to ten chances in that second half so it was really an issue with us being clinical
in the finish."

"If we were clinical I think we could have had more but hats off to Toronto Skillz.
I think they are struggling a little bit for results but today they came out
here and worked hard from the first minute to the ninetieth minute."

Sigma remains the only undefeated team in the League1 2017 men's division after
nine matchweeks of play, but the Mississauga-based academy are still second
in the west division behind Oakville Blue Devils. Smyrniotis says himself and
the players are just taking it one day at a time.

"Obviously it is a good thing but it is not something that we pay much attention to,"
he said.

"Every week we want to gain three points or do the best that we can, but we also
see in the last couple of games that we haven't been playing our best football."

"We've got three points and we're still undefeated but we need to get back to our
best and that starts next week against Vaughan."

Toronto Skillz is still hunting for a first win, but head coach Tiger Fitzpatrick
said improvement has been apparent in spite of the poor run of results.

"Yes well we keep talking about how we have a very young team,: he said.

"Today's team only had three players over the age of twenty, everyone else was
an academy kid, 16 or 17 years of age. In the first half I thought they did
tremendously well, especially defensively. We really showed strong mentally
and had good organization and it was unfortunate that for that first few minutes
of the second half we lost it a little bit."

"That's what comes with young players. You have to figure out how to deal with
the physical strength of the opponent and their experience."

"We're really trying to work on making better decisions on the ball and get
more dynamic movement up front, because that is what has plagued us," he concluded.

"But we got a penalty today and unfortunately we couldn't score it. It is tough
to win games and get points if you don't put those chances away."

Toronto Skillz will next play FC London on June 30 at German Canadian Club, London.

Sigma FC will next play Vaughan Azzurri on July 2 at McNaughton Turf, Vaughan.
