June 19, 2017 League 1 Ontario--Match Recap: Toronto FC III vs Aurora FC (from League 1 Ontario)
Match Recap: Toronto FC III 7 - 0 Aurora FC 06/19/2017, 8:30pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff TFC III had a blockbuster win over visitors Aurora FC on Matchweek Eight, with Matthew Srbely (17'), Daniel DaSilva (43'), Cyrus Rollocks (44', 81'), Ethan Beckford (45 + 3', 72') and Ricardo John (89') all potting goals to give the Junior Reds a 7-0 win. Gianluca Catalano had a clean sheet and Aurora's Justin Broome was dismissed in the 36' minute in a match that got TFC back on track after two scoreless outings in their previous two matches. In addition, with his brace Ethan Beckford retained his hold on first place in the League1 with nine goals in eight matches. "I asked the players to be more clinical and show composure in front of goal, so I'm glad we got those goals today," said TFC III head coach, Danny Dichio. "But there were certain things that I still wasn't happy with today and I explained that to them." "I think there were certain players that started to do what they wanted to do as individual players and were not sticking to the plan of the team's objectives. It's easy to say that when you're four nil up, five nil up you can take your foot off the pedal and start looking like you're a million dollar player, but these are players we are trying to progress through the ranks and have good skills, and that includes good mental skills as well." "Yes I am pleased with the win, although I do think the sending off to Aurora was a little bit harsh, and there is not much you can say to your team in that situation. I have reminded them that I am a pretty hard taskmaster and I want the best, I always want the best. If it is a one nil loss, as long as we perform well and stuck to what we want as a team - that's all I ask." Aurora player Chris Jacovou was disappointed in the loss, but resolute in his belief that the team needs to take the loss in stride and carry any lingering frustrations into training harder for the following fixture. "Once we got the red card we put our heads down and we weren't as positive as we should have been," he said. "We conceded a second goal and dropped our heads completely and it is always hard playing against a squad like TFC. They are young, fit and talented and we just didn't win our individual battles. That's what it came down to. There is nothing more to say." "We'll keep training and working hard and come back next week and hopefully get the result then." Toronto FC III will next play Durham United FA on June 23 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering. Aurora FC will next play North Miss on June 24 at Highland Park, Aurora.
