June 13, 2017 League 1 Ontario Match Recap: North Toronto Nitros vs OSU Force (from League 1 Ontario website)
Match Recap: North Toronto Nitros 5 - 1 OSU Force 06/13/2017, 12:00pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff North Toronto finished up their first run of matches against fellow east division teams on Matchweek Seven with an emphatic 5-1 result over visitors OSU Force. "My take is we came with the same organization that we use every game," said North Toronto head coach, Hermann Kingue. "We take every game just as serious as the last one and we just kept playing our game today, as simple as that." Kyle Laborde (4', 45') had a brace, while Koosha Nazemi (9') and Kembo Kibato (42') added singles. Goalkeeper Mark Rogal (81' pen) was called forward to take a late penalty and complete the set of five on the day. "Nobody wanted the penalty at the time and Mark is one of the captains of the team so I just asked him naturally to go and take it," explained Kingue. For OSU, there were bright spots, with goalscorer Ibrahim Soukary (89') sinking a well-taken free kick at the death of the match. "I would say Ibrahim, who took the free kick, was very good today," said OSU Force head coach Traian Matheas. "His effort and touches were decent and very consistent." "What I wanted to do in the second half was defend first and foremost, at least establish better shape in defending, and we did so," added Matheas. "Obviously we got a flukey penalty against us, but we did much better and it showed. I think the same focus has to be there from the start if we are to do better. We need to have good shape on the defensive side, and on the attacking side we will deal with it when the situations present themselves." "One thing they can learn from this today, and I will share with them again in training, the defending comes first." North Toronto Nitros will next play Pro Stars FC on June 17 at Avondale Stadium, Brampton. OSU Force will next play Oakville Blue Devils on June 18 at Sheridan Trafalgar Stadium, Oakville.
