It was a tight game for a half in Ottawa on Matchweek Five, but OSU eventually capitulated
to defending League1 champions' Vaughan Azzurri following a four goal second half
and a 5-0 final scoreline.

"We had fresh legs, we have a lot of depth," said Vaughan head coach, Carmine Isacco.

"We put some fresh legs in and they made a difference for sure. We were just a little
better at finishing in the second half, bu there were no massive changes."

Joseph Di Chiara (26', 49') provided set-piece brilliance with two goals from dead balls,
while Brandon Mills (55'), Adam Lofranco (90' + 1) and Niklas Bauer (90' + 3) added
insurance markers for the visitors. Keeper Andrew D'Souza claimed the clean sheet.

In post-match, Isacco highlighted the Di Chiara goals among the set.

"He's hopefully just playing here to prepare for the next level," said Isacco.

"He just needs an opportunity and people need to give him a proper opportunity because
he is a class player. He's not even close to 100 per cent right now either, and I think
the higher the level is he just gets better."

Ottawa head coach Traian Matheas struggled to find options from the bench to change
the match, and stressed the importance of maintaining mental focus during a two
defeat slump after a promising start to the season.

"I think we are definitely getting a feel for the league a little bit more, the teams
and who has what, and the first priority is to stay strong mentally and keep
on working," he said.

"Attitude is key. We must keep working at what we can do and the results will come."

"They began to overload us in attack and we couldn't stop them today," he added.

"They're a quality team, they can move the ball and stretch you and they score
one goal after another. But it is important to note that we started off this match
by creating chances and the crossbar and the post were not our friends today."

Isacco also felt his team struggled to find their finishing form until late
in the match, and praised a young OSU team that is in their first season
in League1 Ontario.

"I think we kept them in it with our lack of finishing in the first half, but
they're pretty good going forward," he said.

"Their players Gabriel Bitar and Marco Natoli in particular were good players
going forward," he added.

"It took some time to break them down but we broke them down with two magical
free kicks. Joseph Di Chiarra has that in his locker and I think that was the killer.
The second free kick solidified it, but they were solid going forward and they're
going to get it right - it looks like they have the right makings of a very
good team."

OSU Force will next play Woodbridge Strikers on Sunday June 4
at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge

Vaughan Azzurri will next play Aurora FC on Saturday June 3
at St. Maximillian Kolbe HS, Aurora.
