Durham United FA continued their scoring form on Friday night, hammering home three in the
first half alone to eventually beat Ottawa South United Force soundly after a 4-0 final.

Stefan Lamanna (12', 17') opened up the scoring with a quick brace inside the first twenty
minutes, before Kashiff De Jonge (30') made it three by the half-hour mark.

OSU players were shell-shocked after a difficult first half, which was also devoid of any
meaningful attacking patterns by the visitors. Half-time shots showed not a single shot
had registered on target.

"We just faced better competition," said OSU head coach, Traian Matheas.

"This was a better team, better competition, you could see that in every aspect of the game.
They were first to the ball, physical, intensity was high and they were more experienced.
We got caught and it is our job as coaches to understand how that happened."

"First and foremost, on Monday we will train with intensity, with desire to win every
challenge, and we have to change some things."

Durham picked up where they left off after the interval, as Christian Moncrieffe (58')
made it four before an hour was up.

Durham saw out the match well, and brought through a cast of substitutes that added late
energy and renewed attacking threat.

"The new guys are getting used to the returning players and we're starting to have more time
together," said Durham head coach, Sanford Carabin.

"There is a greater understanding of how we play, and the standards and obligations both when
we have the ball and when we don't, so it's just a time thing."

"We had a lot of guys play their best game so far this year, and when everyone is ticking
over there is a good chance we will be in the game and create chances, and tonight
we just finished our chances."

OSU did well to hold the score at four and neuter the variety of chances the home side
created in the late stages.

At the other end, centre-backs Joe Zupo and Cameron Brooks kept the sheet clean along
with keeper Ben Cowman.

"You never expect you're going to get four goals against a good quality team like Ottawa,"
said Carabin. "They didn't make it easy on us, they played right to the end, but sometimes
the bounces go your way and you have guys step up and play extra special on the night
- and that's what we had tonight."

"I am especially proud that we kept another clean sheet," he added. "That is something
we really focus on, and it is something that takes a lot of hard work, especially against
a team like Ottawa. A credit to them."

"They drove a long way today and had a tonne of energy. The first ten minutes of the game
they came out and pressed us all over the field, I don't think we even touched the ball
for the first five minutes at least. Once we settled in and weathered that initial storm,
we started to dictate play and I was happy with that."

Durham United FA will next play Toronto Skillz on Sunday May 28
at Birchmount Stadium, Scarborough.

Ottawa South United will next play Vaughan Azzurri on Saturday May 27 at MNP Stadium
at Carleton University, Ottawa.
