Toronto FC III were defeated 4-2 by FK Dukla Prague (Czech Republic) in their final
Viareggio Cup group stage match on Saturday. TFC III concluded the tournament with
a 0-1-2 record (two points).

TFC III turned heads at this prestigious tournament, showing their talent, grit,
heart and determination against high-level European competition. Coach Danny Dichio’s
squad left a favorable impression, showing that hockey is not the only sport
Canadians can play.

To recap the team’s other results:

In the first match, TFC III overcame a two-goal deficit to draw the Italian
side 3-3 S.S. Maceratese (Italy).

Match day two saw the Canadian side go down 1-0 early to Juventus FC (Italy)
but after conceding the early goal, TFC III came from behind to draw 1-1. TFC III
dominated for long stretches of the match and came close to scoring a game-winner
on several occasions.

Juventus FC head coach and World Cup winner Fabio Grosso was very impressed with
the overall performance from Toronto FC III and praised them for giving the
defending champions its most difficult challenge during the group stage.

Toronto FC III have a few remaining days in the Tuscan city of Viareggio and
will take advantage as they begin preparation for their next tournament, the
Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup, that will be held from April 9 – 16.
