TORONTO--Mauro Biello's 62nd-minute goal gave the Montreal Impact a 2-1 win over the Toronto Lynx Friday night at Varsity Stadium, and a one-game-to-none advantage in their Northeast Division semifinal series. In what Montreal coach Valerio Gazzola described as a "typically rough Montreal-Toronto game," the Impact took advantage of relatively inexperienced Lynx goalie Roman Harapyn to snatch the win. Biello put the game-winner into an empty net, after Harapyn had charged off his line to cover Bruno Xavier. Harapyn got the start over injured first-stringer Pat Onstad and Joe Ciaravino, who was serving a red-card suspension. Onandi Lowe put Montreal on the board in the eighth minute, heading the ball off the crossbar and in. In the 25th minute, however, Lowe picked up consecutive yellow cards for dissent and was ejected, leaving the Impact shorthanded for the remainder of the game. WAIT!! I DON'T LIKE CUTTING IN ON SOMEONE ELSE'S REPORT BUT SPADAFINA OF THE LYNX GOT A RED CARD AT THE 43 MINUTE MARK TO EVEN THINGS OUT. Rocket Robin. Toronto was unable to capitalize on the man advantage. Their lone goal came in the 13th minute, when Terry St. Louis headed home a flick from Rick Titus. Impact goalie Paolo Ceccarelli came up big in the later going, saving a heartbreakingly close shot by Elvis Thomas that would have tied the game at two. Four of Ceccarelli's five saves came after halftime. The Lynx finished the game without head coach Peter Pinizzotto, who was ejected for dissent in the 55th minute. The series concludes Sunday in Montreal. Scoring:
