Baylee Borges joins York United FC Academy for 2025 League1 Ontario season March 17, 2025

York United FC Academy is pleased to announce the addition of Baylee Borges as preparations continue for the club’s first season in the League1 Ontario Championship Division.

After impressing during tryouts, Baylee caught the attention of the York United scouting staff, earning his invitation to the Academy. His development path has taken him through Pickering FC, FC Durham Academy, and Electric City FC, before gaining experience in Portugal with Gil Vicente.

Now, he steps into a professional environment, ready to take the next step in his career.

“Being part of a professional winning environment with like-minded coaches and players is what drives me,” says Baylee. “This opportunity with York United is the perfect place to continue my growth.”

A strong and disciplined centre-back, Baylee brings defensive awareness, composure, and physicality to the squad. His ability to read the game and compete at a high level makes him a key addition to the backline.

“I’m a very physical presence, which adds strength to the game. I also bring speed to the backline, and I’ve learned to play with maturity,” he explains.

As he adjusts to life at York United FC Academy, Baylee is focused on making the most of this opportunity and continuing his development.

“I would tell young players to work hard every day at your craft, even when no one is watching,” he shares. “Those small efforts add up, and if you stay dedicated, the right opportunities will come.”

With his experience, discipline, and commitment, Baylee Borges is set to be an important part of the squad as the team prepares for the season ahead.
