Champions collide in the Premier Division opening week
Scrosoppi visit Simcoe in the Men’s Premier Division, and newly promoted Waterloo take on former Women’s Premier
winners Alliance.
Matchweek One of the League1 Ontario Premier Division schedules are locked in, outlining this year’s opening games
in the highest level of non-professional soccer in the province.
Here’s a closer look at the matchups that will kick off the 2025 season.
Battle of champions
The last two Men’s Premier Division champions will meet in a blockbuster matchup that is bound to kick off the season
in dramatic fashion on Saturday, April 19.
Reigning title holders Scrosoppi will visit Simcoe County Rovers, and a victory for either side will be a big statement
to the rest of the league as they both have eyes for the crown in August.
Current L1 Cup champions Vaughan Azzurri are also in action that weekend against St Catharines Roma Wolves, who secured
their Premier spot by beating Guelph United last time they took to the field back in September.
Fellow promoted side FC London will open their campaign at home to Alliance United who secured mid-table in last year’s
Men’s Premier standings.
Oakville Soccer Club will be looking to continue the successful legacy of the Blue Devils, who finished as either
Men’s Premier champions or runners-up in four different seasons. They kick off the new campaign against Burlington.
Back with a bang
After avoiding relegation last season by beating Scrosoppi’s women in the Pro/Rel Playoff, North Mississauga will
return to the Women’s Premier with a tough game against reigning champions NDC Ontario.
Alliance United are the only team to have beaten NDC to the crown since the national development side joined
the competition in 2022, and they will visit the Women’s Championship title holders Waterloo United.
This head-to-head between Waterloo and Alliance will kick off the 2025 regular-season on Wednesday, April 16 before
the rest of the action continues at the weekend.
It’s always an interesting fixture between Vaughan Azzurri and Woodbridge Strikers, with nine goals being shared
between these teams across their two divisional matchups last year. They meet again in the opening week.
North Toronto, who have had several players sign for AFC Toronto in the Northern Super League, host Guelph United,
and L1 Cup holders FC London visit Simcoe County Rovers.
