AFC Toronto Signs April Lantaigne to Continue Local Recruitment The Canadian prospect joins the club following impressive freshman year in NCAA Division I Toronto, ON (January 22, 2025) - AFC Toronto is excited to announce the signing of another local Canadian talent in 18-year-old April Lantaigne. Native to the Durham region, the versatile wide player can make an impact in multiple positions and arrives at the club following a standout freshman year at the University of South Alabama. Before excelling at the NCAA Division I level, Lantaigne developed her skills close to home with her local youth club, Whitby FC. She later thrived with the National Development Centre Ontario playing in the Ontario Player Development League and the League1 Ontario Premier division. Additionally, she played for Team Ontario in 2022. Lantaigne’s impressive club career led her to commit to the University of South Alabama Jaguars where the freshman made an instant impact. A starter for all 19 games in the 2024 season, Lantaigne finished as the team’s joint-top assist provider (six) and scored two game- winning goals. Such influence helped the Jaguars claim the top spot in the Sun Belt West Division and reach the quarterfinals of the 2024 Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship.Image: April Lantaigne poses with a Canadian flag during a media session with the University of South Alabama. She ticks all the boxes for us, and we’re thrilled that she will continue her development in our care.” “I am beyond excited to sign with AFC Toronto and have an opportunity to represent a professional team close to home; I accomplished one of my dreams,” said April Lantaigne on joining the club. “I can’t wait to play with everyone and continue to develop my game. I look forward to beginning the season in April and making Toronto proud.” With the signing, AFC Toronto continues to provide a platform for players from the Greater Toronto Area to reach new professional milestones ahead of the inaugural Northern Super League season.
