PREVIEW: RECHARGED AND REFOCUSED, NINE STRIPES LOOK FOR A WIN IN HALIFAX It's been a frustrating few weeks but Martin Nash believes strongly in his group. To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. This is the mantra for York United going into this afternoon’s showdown at Halifax Wanderers in the Canadian Premier League. It is a second consecutive road assignment after that ‘deserving-better’ defeat at Pacific FC in Langford. The Nine Stripes have recharged and are determined to halt their two-game losing streak in the league. But there must be some adjustments. As The Gaffer said in his pre-game press conference, the team has had some therapeutic talks "It [travelling] can help," Martin Nash said. "With togetherness and other things and connecting as a team and being around. So, I'm hoping it has. "We've spent a lot of time talking. We are trying to figure out some of the things that we've missed as a group and where we are. The players talked, we talked and it's been therapeutic, but we've still got to show up on Saturday and put in a good performance." At Wanderers Grounds, the home side have only won one of their last five games against York United. Nonetheless, the boss knows this match won't be a cakewalk for his boys. "I think they're a team that likes to play. They have some good quality, they pass the ball well so you've got to be organized defensively," Nash said, praising Patrice Gheisar’s team. "They've come out flying in games. They started games well and often taken the lead so you know we're going to have to be on the front foot from the first whistle. This is definitely not a fixture that you can come in and feel your way into. You've got to come out flying and have the right mentality." "They are a good side, but for us, I think we've got to worry about ourselves and how we've performed and how we approach the game. I think right now it's more about us than the opponent we're facing." A boost for York United would be welcoming back Mo Babouli, Jonathan Grant and Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare, who have missed a couple of matches, though Nash remained coy on what his selection will be for this one. OPPONENT WATCH Halifax Wanderers are without a win this season but lie seventh-just one place above their guests- on the log sheet. Patrice Gheisar’s side have drawn all their five matches of the campaign. Dating back to September 2022, Wanderers are on a three-match home winless streak.
