CALLED UP: JONATHAN GRANT NAMED IN GUYANA SQUAD FOR FIRST TIME AHEAD OF NATIONS LEAGUE GAMES

The new recruit is set to face Bermuda and Montserrat next week.

York United FC's Jonathan Grant has been named in the Guyana squad for the very first time ahead of their crucial pair of upcoming CONCACAF Nations League fixtures against Bermuda and Montserrat.

The defender - who was officially announced earlier this month - will head to the Bermuda capital of Hamilton on Saturday, March 25 for the first clash, his side hoping to bounce back from successive defeats to table-toppers Haiti last summer. Afterwards, the Guyana squad will travel to Barbados and play their home game with Montserrat there on Tuesday, March 28.

Currently in second place, Guyana know that retaining that position will ensure a spot in the Gold Cup preliminary round. But both their scheduled opponents are not far behind, so the double-header has plenty riding on it.

Grant - who has previously represented Canada at Under-23 level - qualifies for Guyana through his parents.
