CALLED UP: MO BABOULI NAMED IN SYRIA SQUAD FOR UPCOMING FIXTURES The Nine Stripes talisman is set to feature in games against Bahrain and Thailand. FORWARD TO LINK UP WITH RENOWNED COACH HECTOR CUPER York United FC's Mo Babouli has been named in the Syria squad for their upcoming friendlies against Thailand and Bahrain. The attacker, who enjoyed a spectacular time with The Nine Stripes after joining last August, will head to Dubai for the first fixture on Saturday, March 25 at the Shabab Al Ahli Stadium to take on a Thai side fresh from claiming the AFF Championship (a tournament specifically for Southeast Asian countries) back in mid-January. Three days later - on Tuesday, March 28 - Syria will return to action against near neighbours Bahrain. Babouli was involved with the team last year, making two appearances during World Cup qualification against the United Arab Emirates and South Korea. This will be his first time joining with the group since renowned Héctor Cúper, formerly in charge of Inter, Parma, Valencia and Mallorca - took over as coach. The 30-year-old made eight appearances for York United last season, scoring five times and adding a further two assists. © 2023 YORK UNITED FCback to 2023 York United FC menu
