THE NINE STRIPES DRAWN TO FACE VANCOUVER FC IN OPENING ROUND OF 2023 CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

A win for York United will ensure a mouthwatering home clash with Vancouver Whitecaps.

York United FC will host CPL expansion side Vancouver FC in the Preliminary Round of the 2023 Canadian Championship following Tuesday's official draw.

The date and time of the clash will be confirmed at a later date, however it was previously revealed that the designated window is April 18-20.

And as per the recently unveiled Canadian Premier League schedule, the sides meet in a game at York Lions Stadium on Saturday, April 22 which means a double-header at YLS.

Should The Nine Stripes conjure a victory, they'll progress to the quarter-finals and ensure a mouth-watering home assignment with Major League Soccer heavyweights Vancouver Whitecaps, who they narrowly lost out in the 2022 Canadian Championships semi-finals at BC Place.

Quarter-final ties are pencilled in for May 9-11.
