TORONTO – New England Revolution II (12-5-7; 48 pts) drew Toronto FC II, 0-0, (6-11-6; 27 points) on Friday night at York Lions Stadium in Toronto, before earning the extra point via a 4-1 shootout victory. With tonight’s result, Revolution II has qualified for the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Cup Playoffs. This marks the program’s first-ever postseason berth in its four-year history. New England also extended its longest-ever unbeaten streak to nine consecutive matches.

New England defeated Toronto in the shootout with midfielders Jake Rozhansky and Olger Escobar, defender Jacob Akanyirige, and forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith all converting from the penalty spot. Goalkeeper Nico Campuzano earned his third clean sheet of the season, making one save along with one stop in the shootout. Revolution II are now 5-2 in shootouts this season.

Revolution II become the third team in MLS NEXT Pro to qualify for the postseason with four games remaining on the regular season schedule. Following tonight’s result, Revolution II sits in second place in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing Crown Legacy FC by just a two-point margin. New England’s nine-game unbeaten run is the longest active stretch of undefeated games in the league.

New England qualifies for the MLS NEXT Pro Cup Playoffs with tonight’s result. This marks the team’s first-ever postseason appearance in its four-year history.

Revolution II extend their unbeaten streak to nine straight games with the first of the stretch coming on June 23 against Toronto FC II.

New England moves to 5-4-3 on the road this season.

Goalkeeper Nico Campuzano earns his third shutout of the season. Campuzano made one save in regulation along with a save in the shootout.

Midfielders Jake Rozhansky and Olger Escobar, forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith and defender Jacob Akanyirige all converted their spot kicks to secure the shootout victory.

Midfielder Patrick Leal made his first start for New England in a 63-minute performance.

Midfielder Noble Okello made his first start since April 2 against Atlanta United 2 after returning from injury.
