YORK UNITED FC ANNOUNCES RE-SIGNING OF CANADIAN DEFENDER PARIS GEE The 28-year-old has agreed a one-year contract, plus a club option. York United FC is very happy to announce the re-signing of Canadian defender Paris Gee. The 28-year-old has agreed a one-year contract, plus a club option. With influential left-back Diyaeddine Abzi having departed The Nine Stripes for French second-tier side Pau FC in late-June of this year, the team needed to find a suitable replacement. Gee - a native of Burnaby, BC - arrived late the following month and hit the ground running, making his debut off the bench in an excellent 4-2 away win over HFX Wanderers. His first start came in a stirring 3-2 home victory against FC Edmonton at York Lions Stadium in mid-August and he notched his first assist too, sending in a dangerous cross for Lisandro Cabrera to glance home from close range. In his next outing - a derby clash with Forge FC at Tim Hortons Field - there was something similar: another superb delivery, this time for Osaze De Rosario to expertly flick home in what resulted in an emphatic 3-1 road win. But, Gee suffered an injury in the first half of that encounter and missed the next three fixtures before returning to take part in all four remaining games of the CPL season. "Paris did really well when he came in last year and we are very happy he's back with us," says Angus McNab, York United FC's CEO/President and GM. "When he joined the group it was very clear he was a true professional in every sense of the word. His ability to play both left and right back is a real asset with such a small roster." As well as his versatility, Gee brings vast experience and has accumulated well over 150 professional games across North American and Europe. Starting out with the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club and the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency, Gee also played with Simon Fraser University in 2012. In 2014, he headed for Zagreb and signed with NK Rudes of the Croatian second division while there were subsequent spells with USL (United Soccer League) sides Tulsa Roughnecks and Saint Louis FC. Prior to his move to York United FC, Gee played 27 times for FC Edmonton during the 2021 Canadian Premier League season. © 2022 YORK UNITED FC
