Dominick Zator becomes the league’s latest Centurion

A big win at Starlight Stadium wasn’t the only thing York United defender Dominick Zator celebrated
on Saturday. The 27-year-old made his 100th appearance as a Canadian Premier League player during
the 3-1 win over Pacific, spent between Cavalry FC and more recently York United.

For Cavalry, Zator scored the winning goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2019 Canadian
Championship third qualifying round as they became the first CPL side to beat a team from MLS. He was
also part of the Cavalry side that reached the inaugural CPL final that same year, playing
in both matches.Zator also earned a senior Canadian national team call-up during that time,
for a Concacaf Nation’s League match against the United States in November of 2019.

“I’m super pleased, I am extremely grateful to both clubs and to the league to now reach 100 games,”
Zator said on the CanPL.ca newsroom today. “Obviously without the league, I wouldn’t have really
had the opportunity to play these professional games. I didn’t know what pathway I was going to take.
It was difficult coming out of University and trying to figure out ‘what’s the best pathway’. But the
league kind of opened up that door to get those games in.”

The Calgary native joined York United in 2021, with whom he reached the Canadian Championship
semi-finals this past year and CPL Playoff semi-finals in 2021.

Zator is the fourth player to reach the honour, following in the footsteps of Forge trio Kyle Bekker,
Alex Achinioti-Jönsson and Triston Henry. Forge defender Dom Samuel, meanwhile, could make his 100th
appearance as a Canadian Premier League player this weekend against Cavalry should he play.
