'IT'S TOUGH BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE - WE'VE GOT TO KEEP FOCUSED': NASH EYES EDMONTON WIN AT HOME Victory is a must at York Lions Stadium later today. Martin Nash says the Nine Stripes have no choice but to ‘try win every game’ and breathe life back into their Canadian Premier League campaign. The Gaffer returns to the touchline to lead the troops against FC Edmonton after missing last week’s 2-0 defeat at Valour FC due to Covid. It’s a must-win situation for York United who are without a home win in five matches. Playing against the basement boys puts pressure on the lads to rebound. "I think first and foremost, we're gonna try to win every game - there's no beating around the bush," he said at his pre-match press conference. "We're really behind. We put ourselves in that kind of spot but I think we'll try to win every game and pick up as many points as we can and leave everything we have on the pitch. That's all we can do at this stage and chase. It's a tough task, but it's not impossible yet. So we got to keep the guys focused and all going in the same direction." The area of focus is an interesting point. Last weekend in Winnipeg, the team conceded an opening goal immediately following the half-time break. "It’s obviously disappointing that there was a goal straight after halftime," said Assistant Coach Barry Smith post-game. "I don't know if it was a lapse in concentration and we've been caught cold. But that’s disappointing. We had a couple of chances in the first half but didn’t take them which could have settled us a wee bit more. From our point of view, it’s down to decision making: whether we shoot , whether we pass, the way of passing." Midfielder Noah Verhoeven agreed with the sentiment. "Yeah, I think that final pass, the final product, that’s been something that we’ve been missing all season," he said. "We just need to be more consistent in games." In an effort to get more consistency, Nash has been busy this week and retooled again with the arrival of experienced duo of midfielder Matthew Baldisimo and forward Mo Babouli. A lot - especially goal scoring - is expected from Babouli and the boss acknowledges the former Forge FC star has the credentials to push his side to bigger and better things. "Yeah, I think he’s an experienced player that can can score as well as create so I think he's big for us and there's a big hole left when Lowell [Wright] moved on so I think he fits that hole really well. I like his age, his experience, the stage he's at in his career: I think he's a perfect fit for this club," Nash added. OPPONENT WATCH: The Eddies haven't won a game since the 3-0 victory over The Nine Stripes on Canada Day. Ahead of this clash, Head Coach Alan Koch said: "The difference between the last time we played York and this is that we’re still the same and York has tweaked, adjusted and manipulated their roster like every team tries to do, but we don’t have that luxury." "It’s not going to be the same game. We’re not playing the same team. They’ve brought in countless good players and I’m sure we will see a lot of those players in the game this weekend, and we expect the game to be very different than the first two games."
