YORK UNITED FC CONFIRMS SIGNING OF CANADIAN GOALKEEPER ELEIAS HIMARAS The 20-year-old returns to the club on a permanent basis having briefly been with the squad last season. York United FC can confirm the signing of Canadian goalkeeper Eleias Himaras. The 20-year-old's deal runs until the end of 2022 with a club option for a further year. Most recently with League1 Ontario side Electric City, Himaras is very familiar with The Nine Stripes having briefly been a part of the squad last season. He joined in early August 2021 as emergency cover and was on the bench for a memorable 3-2 away victory over HFX Wanderers. A native of London, ON, Himaras joined the Toronto FC Academy in 2018 and was named in Canada's squad for the Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil the following year, starting the team's final group game against New Zealand. Previously, he spent time with the TFC II squad. Meanwhile, York United has agreed to mutually terminate the contract of Matthew Nogueira. "Eleias is an immensely talented young goalkeeper who has done well in League1 Ontario and we thank Greg and Randy at Electric City for their support in getting this agreed," says Angus McNab, York United FC President/CEO & GM. “We thank Matthew for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.” © 2022 YORK UNITED FC
