The Aurora FC is the official youth team of today's game. Not announced was they now have an association with League1 Ontario
club Simcoe County Rovers. Because there were a few Electric City fans there tonight, I mixed them up when I saw ECFC the next
day. More likely those fans were there to watch if York backup goalie Eleias Himaras got the call to play in tonight's game as he
was on ECFC until York's rash of emergency call-ups.
I noticed at least a few vehicles returning into the end zone for tonight's gane. Sharman's Proper Pies is back and special
tonight was an exhibit soccer skills site for Allstate Insurance. The other food trucks have not returned.

Attendance wasn't announced but was eventually listed as 1302. Although there were no travelling Forge fans here this game, there were almost 100 Pacific fans here cheering. Many stayed after the game to see the players applaud them for coming out. This was the second Friday night game in a row. York's next home game is next Sunday afternoon against Atletico Ottawa. The crowd did pick up as I'd commented before the game that it looked comparable to the MLS NEXT Pro Toronto FC II who actively discourage fans from coming to their games! Wow. York broke out of their scoring slump in the first minute of the game with a dream start. Although the game was tied by a Penalty kick near the end of the first half, they took the lead again within the first five minutes of the second half but couldn't hold that lead neither. Pacific's Alex Diaz had a hat trick to win the game on his own. I was surprized to learn that it was only the fourth hat trick in the now almost four year history of the league and Diaz now has two of them! One of the problems tonight was that although some players are returning from injury, like captain Roger Thompson and Michael Petrasso, there were two players absent because of Yellow card accumulation. Mateo Hernandez and Jordan Wilson were out of tonight's lineup. Wilson was actually in the press box tonight as the colour commentator for Eoin O'Callaghan calling the game on 960AM Sauga Radio. It was pretty rambunctious for both the York goals outlaying months of frustration at the team's lack of goals. The injury list starts to grow again as Max Ferrari's crash into the sideboards and early reports that it's an ankle injury don't make it sound good for a quick return for him. So I did straighten out which Vengaboys song was played after each goal...well they played it twice... 'We Like To Party'. Yeah the song used in the American 'Six Flags' theme park ads. The York defence continues to struggle after having the best record until a month ago. They have been outscored 12 to 3 in their last four games. Obvious MVP Diyaeddine Abzi leaving to play in France right before those four games has hurt them defensively. Head coach Martin Nash answered at the post match press conference that they have not found a replacement for him. The two York shots at 59 minutes, off the bar and then off the post would have made the game 3-1 at the time and maybe York could have held on to that. The fourth goal against became their worst loss of the season but it was the equivalent of hockey's pulling your goalie with players trapped upfield. This was the one team that York has had some success so far this season. The teams have played to 0-0 ties in their league games and a 2-2 tie in Victoria in the Canadian Championship, winning the one game quaterfinal on Penalty kicks. The schedule doesn't get easier as they fly to Calgary to play first place Cavalry FC on Tuesday night then come home for a Sunday afternoon game against second place Atletico Ottawa. Tonight's game was against the third place team who are the defending champions and who will soon start a run in the Concacaf Champions League against Waterhouse FC of Jamaica. The loss worsens York's record to 2 wins, 5 ties, 8 losses for 11 points which is seventh in the eight team league. Seems like only a matter of time until FC Edmonton passes them but that team doesn't play this weekend. Edmonton beat them on Canada Day, July 1, to get close. Pacific improves to 7 wins, 5 ties, 4 losses for 26 points and keep pace, two points behind Cavalry, who had won the night before.
