THE NINE STRIPES TRAVEL TO NOVA SCOTIA TO FACE HALIFAX WANDERERS AT THE WANDERERS GROUNDS THIS
(SATURDAY) AFTERNOON.

York United hit the road once again in search of their first 2022 Canadian Premier League away win
but looks like the dice is loaded against them.

The Nine Stripes travel to Nova Scotia to face Halifax Wanderers at the Wanderers Grounds this
(Saturday) afternoon.

But Head Coach Martin Nash is unfazed by the impending assignment, which on paper, looks an arduous task.

York United’s last trip was a morale-boosting 0-0 draw with leaders Pacific FC and before that was
a late 1-0 reverse at Valour FC, both matches played last month.

Back in April, The Nine Stripes played out a 1-1 draw at Edmonton.

Nash is relishing the prospect of breaking the jinx against Stephen Hunt’s side who have just
one point from their last three league matches.

''I think it'd be nice to get that monkey off our back but you know, they did come here with the right
mentality and attitude there. It's not going to be an easy game,’’ he said at Friday’s press
match conference.

''They're a very good team, very organized team so it'll be a battle and we're just gonna have
to be at it for 90 minutes and do all the little things.''

The Nine Stripes need no reminder about their opponents, who beat them 1-0 at York Lions Stadium
in the season opener.

At Halifax, York United will be without key right back Chrisonvic N’sa who is serving a one-match
ban after his late sending off for two yellow card offences against Calvary last week.

On the left side, first choice Diyaeddine Abzi is suspended after accumulating four bookings
likewise midfielder Isaiah Johnston.

There is also an overwhelming number of team scratches with Max Ferrari, Roger Thompson,
Oliver Minatel, Austin Ricci and Michael Petrasso all out injured.

But that is not deterring Nash from aiming higher.

''We want to get pressure from the start so they don't settle into the game easily but we got
to be solid defensively,'' he added.

''They're a good team, they've got some good talent and we're gonna have to be at our best to beat
them at their place.''

Halifax’s last home game ended in a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Forge FC but Nash was
quick to water down the significance of that result ahead of their meeting.

He said: ''I think it was a one-off game. They arrested a bunch of guys in the foul-nil loss
so I expect a different lineup coming from them.

''After a performance like that, they'll come up flying, I assume so. We're gonna be ready for
that and approach the game the same we've approached every game because we've been sold defensively. ''

''We just got to be a little bit cleaner in the final third.''

OPPONENT WATCH:

Halifax recently retooled and added Senegalese-Canadian striker Mour Samb to their roster.
The 27-year-old has gone on to make two appearances for his new club.

At the back, they have got Peter Schaale who has been galvanising the backline.

Captain Andre Rampersad is the conductor in the middle of the park and supported
by Jeremy-Gagnon-Lapare and Mohammed Omar.

Forwards Akeem Garcia and Sam Salter remain venomous upfront.
